SMEF 100% Benefit Night at "Noodles & Company". Fundraiser at Noodles & Company today, plus free food, free seeds

Thanks to the generosity of “Noodles & Company,” and the support of over 400 students, parents and educators representing 29 different buildings throughout the District, the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation will receive a donation of over $3000. In celebration of their newest store, “Noodles & Company,” located at 7600 State Line Road in the Hy-Vee Shopping Center, selected SMEF as beneficiary of a 100% Benefit Night. The event was held on October 7, 2010 from 5-9pm. Last year the Foundation distributed more than $85,000 in support of Shawnee Mission teachers and students.

In continuation of the celebration of Slow Food, Noodles & Company has given me a few packets of seeds to give away to you guys. I also have some coupons good for a free bowl of noodles to give away.

The Fourmile Canyon fire inspired Boulder's restaurant community to rally in support of those affected by the blaze, feeding firefighters and evacuated homeowners for free and throwing impromptu benefits to support organizations like the Red Cross.

The inferno has been reduced to ashes, but fire departments are still dealing with the cost of replacing lost equipment. Now they'll get some help from Denver-based Noodles & Company: The restaurant chain raised a chunk of change for the departments that helped fight the fire.

"We managed to raise about $10,000," says Lindsey Mandel, who does public relations for Noodles & Company. "We're happy with the community turnout."

That money comes from the North Boulder, South Boulder, 29th Street Mall and Longmont locations, which donated a dollar from each entree sold between October 4 and October 10.
